Calming Foot Powder

Calming Foot Powder

1/4 cup arrowroot powder
1/4 cup cornstarch
10 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops sandalwood essential oil
5 drops clary sage essential oil

Combine cornstarch and arrowroot in a bowl and add essential oils by evenly dropping the oils around the dry mix. Shake, mix or stir with a fork and add finished powder to a shaker to use for feet.

Special Tip: If you have a flour sifter, use to further distribute the essential oils into the powder and to prevent any clumping.

It was so easy!

For a long time I’ve wanted to make my own beauty products. Gathering the supplies has been the biggest problem. I live in a 36 foot 5th wheel trailer and I have several hobbies that take up our storage space. Squeezing a few more in (and remembering where I stowed them) has been interesting, to say the least.

Making this lip balm was very easy and if I can do it so can you! Once all the ingredients were gathered it took about 15 minutes to make

Peppermint Lip Balm

3 T organic sunflower oil
1 T organic cocoa butter
1 T plus 1 t beeswax pastilles
15 drops organic peppermint essential oil
a few drops of vitamin E oil, which is optional

Place beeswax, butter and oil in the top of a double boiler (I used the microwave and a glass measuring cup) until all is melted. Remove from heat (careful the glass may be hot!) add the essential oil and vitamin E oil. Swirl for minute or two and then pour immediately into the lip balm tubes or containers. Makes about 10 tubes

The recipe is from Mountain Rose Herbs as are most of the supplies

If you try this, let me know how you liked it!

Essential Oils

Do you use them?

Recently I’ve become interested in using them for my health.  For Christmas my husband Jim gave me a kit from Young Living.  Total shock!  I’ve use EO’s off and on through the years for aromatherapy and I didn’t know he noticed.   After reading all the literature that came with the kit I decided to try them to help with my health conditions.

You see I am borderline on cholesterol, blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.  Have been for almost 15 years.  During that time I’ve changed my eating habits so I can control the ‘bad’ numbers.  I know I don’t exercise enough and now that I’m in my 66th year my numbers are creeping up.

We’re in Helen, Georgia right now but we’re leaving tomorrow for Ashville, North Carolina.
